Expenses:
Two
fees are paid directly to the Ohio State Medical Board. The
first is the $35 application fee that you pay when applying
for massage school. The second is the examination fee of $250
that is paid near the end of the massage program when you apply
to take the State Board Examination.
Liability
Insurance
Liability
insurance must be obtained prior to participation in the student
clinic. This insurance is provided by the American Massage
Therapy Association (AMTA), a nationally recognized professional
organization that began in 1943. Membership provides comprehensive
professional and general liability insurance, continuing education,
the Massage Therapy Journal , the Hands On newsletter,
discounts on products and conventions, an annual membership
registry, and other benefits.
CPR
Certification
Certification
in CPR is required. Although the school provides a class on
CPR, it is not required that students take the class at the
Institute.
Professional
Massages
In
2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters, students are required to receive
a total of three full-body massages (one per quarter) from
any licensed massage therapist of their choice (using a different
therapist each time) who has been licensed for at least one
year. This will enable you to experience the various techniques
and styles utilized by different massage therapists.
Seminar
Electives
In
3rd and 4th quarters, students have the option of participating
in a field experience chosen by the school or an approved continuing
education seminar. There is an additional cost (not included
in base tuition) to attending a seminar and cost will vary
depending on the seminar; however, students will receive discounts
on seminars held at Healing Arts Institute that are taken for
elective credit.
