Gentle Scar Tissue Mobilization Techniques

Many breast cancer survivors experience pain, lymphedema, reduced range of motion, and even frozen shoulder after treatment.  This course focuses on the basic understanding of the effects of surgera nd radiation on the tissues an dhow scar tissue mobilizaiton can restore healthy functioning to the fascial/musculo-skeletal system.

Learning Outcomes for this 24 hour course include:

  • Understanding the effects of mastectomy surgery
  • Understanding the effects of radiation therapy both acute and long term

Thai Massage

Cold Stone Therapy for Migraine Headaches

This innovative workshop is designed specifically for massage therapists, body workers and spa practitioners who want to offer their clients an alternative and dramatic relief treatment for all kinds of headaches.

 

Students will have hands on practice to perform strategic placement of hand crafted cold marble stones to decrease the pressure of dilated blood vessels , and the use of specially formulated aromatherapies for the most common types of headaches, as well as specific headache point massage strokes.   Tuition includes how-to handouts and certificate of attendance.

Infant Massage

Learn infant massage with numerous, helpful massage techniques for colic relief, better quality sleep, stress reduction, traumatic births and bonding. Also discussed and demonstrated: recognizing facial and body cues, do's and don'ts, “issues in the tissues”, massaging the preemie and the fussy child. Easily learned and lots of fun! Infant models and parents will be invited for a special infant massage presentation.

 

Students need to bring to class: an infant size baby doll with moveable arms and legs and a pillow to sit on. Walmart, Target or Toys R Us are good resources. No stuffed animals or Barbie dolls!

Learn the art of using alternating temperatures within a fifty-minute treatment. This experience will bring your clients back for more each time they visit. Therapists will learn techniques in applying heated and chilled stones to the body and the contradictions and considerations for this treatment. They will also be instructed on how to clean and care for all the supplies and learn proper body mechanics in relationship to the stones, thus saving their hands and wrist from additional strain of being over worked. Aromatherapy for Cancer Patients

This 3 hour program will explore the healing qualities of certain Essential oils helpful for the physical body with a focus on the oncology population.  Specific oils to be addressed include lavender, peppermint, lemon and others with indications for oncology clients.  We will review historical and current use of essential oils for health care.  Essential oil chemistry, quality standards, safety and research will be discussed especially as they apply to the oncology population.

Massage for People Living with Cancer
