Jodi L. Romaker, L.M.T., NCTMB, B. S.
President and Founder

Jodi graduated in 1989 from the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts in Tucson, Arizona. While in Tucson, she worked at five star resorts Canyon Ranch and Westin La Paloma while also gaining experience working with professional golfers and football players. As the touring manager of a dance troupe, Jodi followed the company to New York City where her massage therapy practice focused on performing artists such as actors, musicians, and professional dancers.

Then in 1990 and 1991, Jodi lived and worked on a five star cruise ship. While aboard ship, she had the opportunity to work with professional basketball players, sponsors of the Barcelona Olympics, executives of Euro Disney, and a cruise of celebrities. After about 2 years aboard ship, Jodi then backpacked around the world for 6 months while exploring various body/mind therapies and philosophies in other countries. Jodi's continuing education has included studies in La Stone Therapy, Alexander Technique, Dr. Vodder's lymphatic drainage, hydrotherapy, sports massage, neuromuscular therapy, positional release, Thai massage, and myofascial release, to name a few.

In 1993, Jodi received her National Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and became licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio. She also has a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Supervision, and has been a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) since 1989 and is currently a member of the Ohio Council of Schools. Ms. Romaker founded Healing Arts Institute in 1997.

Melissa Welker-Fitzgerald, M. Ed., LSW

Director of Operations

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Bowling Green State University, and a Masters in Career and Technology Education from BGSU. Melissa began working as a licensed social worker in 1994, specializing in mental health and health promotion. In addition, Melissa has created training manuals and evaluation tools for supervisors and employees, and has been published in WELCOA (The Wellness Councils of America). She has also developed a training manual for supervisors for an on-campus program for BGSU's Career Services Department. Melissa has also developed curriculum and taught courses including interview skills and resume writing.

Debra A. Keller, L.M.T., NCTMB

Director of Education

After working of six years with large accounting firms, Deb attended Healing Arts Institute and graduated in 2000.  In addition to being licensed by the Ohio State Medical Board as a massage therapist, she is also certified in Prenatal Massage and is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.

In fall 2000, Deb founded and opened HMH Wellness Center, Inc.  HMH Wellness Center is a holistic wellness center dedicated to the health and wellness of women in the child bearing years, before birth and beyond while focusing on the treatment of stress and anxiety.  Deb has had extensive training and specializes in prenatal, fertility, post partum and infant massage and co-founded the Toledo Maternity Network, an organization to help pregnant women connect with the community. She is also trained in various specialties such as: LaStone Therapy, Thai Massage, Myofascial Release, Cancer Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Chair Massage, and Spa Treatments. Deb has served as an Advisory Board Member for the Certified Networking Program and Mercy Medical College and is a Professional Member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals.

Amy J. Braida, L.M.T.

Dean of Students

Amy holds a Bachelor's of Art degree in Communications from The University of Toledo, as well as an Associates or Science degree in Therapeutic Massage Therapy from Mercy College of NW Ohio. She is a licensed massage therapist by the State of Ohio Medical Board.

Amy specializes in Prenatal and Geriatric massage. She also has training in Hot Stone massage, Healing Touch Spiritual Ministries, Craino-sacral treatments, Reflexology and Chair massage. She is a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association.

Amanda Tebbe, B. A.

Financial Aid Administrator

Amanda graduated from The Ohio State University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art.  She has several years of experience as an Accountant for an international manufacturing company.  She has also worked at The Ohio State University for four years with their testing office and was responsible for supervising and scheduling placement and graduate exams.  She is currently in the process of pursuing a Masters Degree in Non-Profit Arts Management.

Amanda Lynne Peterson

Office Manager

Amanda Lynne graduated from Penta County Career center in 2003 gaining two years of education in Accounting and Banking.  She graduated from Owens Community College in December of 2007, earning an Associates Degree in Accounting Technology.  Currently she is working on the requirements for setting for the CPA exam.

She worked as an employee of Renhill Staffing Services and Accountemps to gain accounting experience.  This gave her the chance to work at two prestigious CPA firms in the Toledo area.  After passing the CPA exam she wants to open her own bookkeeping service and CPA firm.
